A recipe for perfection.
1. Dinner with my wife.
I made roasted garbanzo beans and garlic with swiss chard and sauteed zucchini with garlic, onion and tomato. It was delicious.
2. Relaxing
Thought provoking movie, "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". My wife and I quite enjoyed it after our dinner.
3. Time in the studio.
Steve Vai "Passion and Warfare" on the stereo. It is an album that never fails to move me, to center me and inspire me. It facilitates my immersion as I try to deconstruct the persona that I put forth and find the essence and core of my self. It is scary, to open myself and allow myself to be vulnerable. My great fear is giving up the comfort and accepting the uncertainty of the unknown. In steps I am doing this as I try to reclaim my true self.
I find myself in that moment tonight, utterly relaxed and unguarded after a perfect recipe of an evening and I feel truly centered, and a little closer to myself.
"closer to myself"

More relaxation, unhurried, joyful, moment to moment today.
In the studio, at the computer, working on some video.
I love being barefoot, I love the feel of the earth, of where I am, under my feet. I love the connected-ness it gives me, the grounding it helps me feel.
I love it when my feet are dirty, bits of where I've been sticking as I move through the moments of my day.

My wife and I got a massage today. It was the first time either of us have had a professional massage.
It was wonderful.

I've also been kind of.... floating. Trying as I mentioned the other day to be more present. The massage, well, that was one long gloriously relaxing moment, as was last night when I was #drinkanddraw ing with some twitter friends, as was the moments that followed when my wife summoned me to the house and we were together, for many wonderful moments.
My neighbor mentioned the other day that we don't lay out in the grass and stare at the sky anymore. He's right, but it isn't all just staring at the sky.
I feel drifting, but not aimless. Rather buoyed.

Transition, the in-between.
I was talking with my friend Nofar, who is in the in-between right now, and while I was taking my portrait today, I was thinking about her in the space between, and my own transitions, the hanging moments that seem pregnant with possibility, the long stretches that feel eternal and the lightning blinks that leave you spinning.
It can all happen so quickly, it can pass without realization and what was is no more and what is is all we have.
I am trying to be more present in those moments, more aware, less distracted.
"the in-between moment"
