Today I found out we lost a friend in our community. Chris Al-Aswad passed away at 31 years of age leaving a void in the community of artists and friends that I have come to know.

Chris was an amazing person, and I am glad for the way he touched my life and deeply saddened by the hole left in our community by this loss.

My portrait today is an interpretation of Gustave Courbet's Self Portrait "The Desperate Man" in tribute to Chris. This painting is the image that Chris used as his avatar for @escapeintolife.
